Maximum Unit Load
The maximum unit load for regular semesters (Fall/Spring) is 18 units. Students who wish to enroll in more than the maximum unit load during the Fall or Spring semester must complete an Excess Units Petition and obtain approval from an EVC counselor. Once approved, the signed petition must be submitted to Admissions & Records to register for the additional courses.
- Fall/Spring Maximum Load: 18 units (students requesting more must petition)
- Summer Maximum Load: 10 units per session (no excess units permitted)
- Winter/Intersession Maximum Load: 7 units (no excess units permitted)
Note: Excess unit petitions are not authorized for the Summer or Winter/Intersession terms. These unit caps are final and non-negotiable.
Concurrently Enrolled High School Students
- Concurrently enrolled high school students are limited to a maximum of 11 units per regular semester. However, it is strongly recommended that they enroll in no more than 6 units at any given time.
- If a concurrently enrolled high school student is granted permission to enroll in 12 or more units, they will be reclassified and charged full fees as a regular (non-high school) student.
