Physical Science (PHYSC)
PHYSC 012 Earth Science 4 Units
This course is an introduction to the main physical processes governing Earth's geosphere, atmosphere, and hydrosphere, highlighting the interactions of these systems with one another, and with the sun and other solar system bodies. Main topics include formation of the solar system, the theory of plate tectonics, and the interactions among tectonics plates as a driving mechanism constantly reshaping Earth's landscape. It also covers basic physical and chemical processes governing the rock cycle, the types of ocean boundaries, and the evolution of Earth's atmosphere. This is a G.E. physical science course with a lab component designed for nonscience majors.
